The construction of a Shadow Box creates a depth effect behind translucent glass by incorporating a painted aluminum sheet in the curtain wall behind the glass. The aluminum sheet must be positioned at least two inches behind the glass and painted to create dimension and prevent oxidation.
Reflective finishes enhance and improve the visual depth of the unit. Precise details can provide a method to thermally isolate the cavity from the interior. It is also desirable to have an aluminum back panel behind the insulation to prevent condensation on the metal shadow area from the interior.
The panel can be made of aluminum or galvanized steel, with thickness ranging from 16 GA to 20 GA.
Options for double aluminum and double galvanized steel are also available.
The thickness and density of the insulation (Rockwool Curtainrock) are chosen by the customer.
